In spaces with children two things matter more than anywhere else: that there is no mould on the evaporator, and that there is a document showing when it was last cleaned. The work is scheduled in the holidays, not during lessons.

Why units load up here
Children spend five to eight hours in the same room, and the density of people is well above an office. An evaporator with mould sends particles into the air exactly where the most sensitive people are. On top of that, rooms are rarely aired in winter, so the unit recirculates the same air.
The recommended schedule
Two interventions a year, scheduled in the summer and winter holidays, with filters checked at the start of each term. In nurseries, where the schedule is continuous, the work is done on closure days or after hours.

The specific risk: units in small, crowded rooms, where humidity from breathing is high and there is more condensate than anyone would expect from a classroom.
